Mike McGrew

Dr Mike McGrew is Chair of Avian Biotechnologies at the Roslin Institute. This inspiring innovator is making crucial advancements to identify the genes that are important for healthy birds and to protect and conserve bird species.

Mike’s expertise in creating avian bio-banks will aid in the efforts to manage and conserve both rare and industrial breeds of poultry. His research produces avian cells for the study of gene function, disease resistance and cellular agriculture. The future challenge is to extend biobanking to endangered bird species. It is no surprise that he was winner of the 2021 Scottish Knowledge Exchange Powerful Partnership Award.
