Scottish Enterprise High Growth Spinout Programme (HGSP)

Supporting the commercialisation of advanced technologies developed at Scotland's universities, to create new high-growth companies with the potential to generate significant economic impact in Scotland.

The objective is to create new high-growth companies with the potential to generate significant economic impact in Scotland. 

There are four streams to HGSP: 

  • Pre-Opportunity Qualification: £5-10k for market research. 
  • Opportunity Qualification: up to £75k for a 6-12 month project. 
  • Company Creation: up to £200k for a 12-24 month project, at the end of which the spinout company is usually formed. 
  • Convertible Loan Notes: Up to £400k in the form of a convertible loan is a type of debt that can either be repaid with interest or converted into equity shares at a later date. Once the spinout company is established, SE may provide access to a CLN alongside other investment or grant funding. 

 

Supported activities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Appointment of an experienced commercial champion to lead and manage commercial engagement. 

  • Technology de-risking through prototyping. 

  • Investor engagement. 

  • Market research. 

  • Regulatory assessment. 

  • Intellectual property strategy development.
