Kick-off the start of the academic year with KB Talks and discover the exciting entrepreneurial community at the University of Edinburgh. 

With a panel of successful student and graduate founders you can hear thrilling stories from Edinburgh entrepreneurs and their journey of starting up while studying. Starting your own business can be both daunting and exciting. Join us to learn the ins and outs of setting up a business from scratch. Listen to stories, meet like-minded people and get inspire to start your own entrepreneurial journey. 

The talks will be followed by Q&A and a networking reception so that you have plenty of time to chat to the speakers. This event will run once in semester one and again in semester two with different speakers at each session.

  • The Nucleus Building, Kings Buildings Campus

Past speakers: 

  • Alex Speakman - School of Engineering - founder of E.V.A Biosystems, an Edinburgh based startup using synthetic biology to develop new bioplastics for manufacturing. The goal is to tackle plastic pollution while retaining all of the advantages that makes plastic so invaluable. 
  • Aliyu Dala - School of Engineering - co-founder of Raygonal, an agricultural technology company with emphasis ondeploying deep tech in tackling food production in some of the poorest regions on the planet. 
  • Haoran Zhang - School of Biomedical Sciences - founder of Alpha Earth Observations which provides environmental consultancy, including live-dashboards with rich data visualisation and analysis.
