Book a 1-2-1 with a Student Enterprise team member

If you’re looking for support to develop your business idea, you can request a 1-2-1 meeting with a member of the Student Enterprise team. We offer practical advice, constructive feedback on your plans, and can connect you to funding, investment and further learning opportunities.

How it works

  1. Submit a request
    Complete a short online form with details about your idea and your current stage.
  2. Receive your confirmation email
    You’ll receive an email with instructions on how to book your appointment. You can choose the adviser that best suits your needs and switch between advisers as your idea develops.
  3. Meet with an adviser
    Sessions can take place in person or online.

Meet your business advisers

Eileen Inglis
Eileen is a business advisor with over 20 years’ experience supporting early-stage founders, including students, graduates and social entrepreneurs. She specialises in social enterprise, freelancing, the creative industries, food, and health and wellbeing, offering practical support on shaping ideas, early-stage business models and funding.


John Hill
John is a Venture Coach and commercial advisor with 20+ years’ experience spanning both corporate and startup ventures, helping founders turn ideas into action. He specialises in strategy, commercial growth, and building the right connections linking ventures to the people, partnerships, and opportunities that drive real progress.


Kevin Lonergan
Kevin has over 20 years of experience advising and supporting technology and science-based startups on their journey to commercialisation and investment. He specialises in MedTech, FinTech and AI solutions, and has helped startups secure over £30 million in investment and £10 million in grant funding.


Ross McLennan 
Ross has over 15 years’ experience supporting innovative startups and nearly a decade helping student and graduate founders at the University of Edinburgh. He leads the Edinburgh Innovations student enterprise advisors, specialises in developing hardware and engineering-based solutions, and is passionate about supporting climate and environmental technology ventures. He has supported hundreds of startups, including through a recent secondment with Old College Capital.

Accounting, legal and IP support

We can also help with any accounting and tax, legal and IP questions you may have. Before booking a meeting with an external specialist, we ask that you first have a 1-2-1 meeting with a Student Enterprise team member to discuss your needs and ensure you receive the right support. Once this meeting has taken place, you can book a 30-minute initial free consultation with one of our external partners. These sessions provide a high-level discussion to help you navigate key considerations for your business.
