CogniHealth aims to transform the experience of living with dementia with its app CogniCare Image Entrepreneur profile Co-Founder: Pooja Jain Student client while studying MSc Integrative Neuroscience Edinburgh Medical School The idea CogniHealth aims to transform the experience of living with dementia with its app CogniCare. CogniCare supports families and unites all aspects of dementia care in one place, making it easy for its users to access support from their own homes. Carers can share their care needs with the app and it will suggest tailored solutions. After a conversation with a person looking after his wife with Alzheimer’s disease, the team realised that dementia is an area of huge unmet need. Post-diagnosis, families struggle to identify what type of support exists, whether it is relevant and who to trust. Nothing currently in the market provides the holistic and personalised support carers need throughout this journey. In response to this, CogniHealth is transforming the way carers look after people with dementia at home. Challenges “Taking an idea and turning it into a business has been incredibly challenging over the past year, with its legal and financial hurdles. Every day is filled with new tasks that I don’t know how to do. “Luckily, Edinburgh is the perfect base for CogniHealth. Scotland, especially Edinburgh, is a fantastically supportive ecosystem for startups. There are lots of different organisations, programmes, and people willing and able to help.” Support from Edinburgh Innovations We have supported Pooja to secure her student entrepreneur visa, enabling her to work on CogniHealth in the UK. With our support, Pooja has secured a Royal Society of Edinburgh Unlocking Ambition Fellowship. She was also runner-up in the Social and Environment Award at Inspire Launch Grow 2018.
